[...It's been eerily quiet at House #29 lately. The quiet isn't something new to Alexei, or a bother, but it's just strange when you now share the place with someone else that wasn't there. He taps his pen, sitting at his desk and glancing at the blank page in the journal. He's been meaning to talk about something to the general public that he's been holding off for quite some time. Though, it's been a while since the first draft and there hasn't been another...hm.

He just leans back in his seat for a moment, out of the journal's view. People can probably hear several loud banging sounds and then some not so pleasant words being blurted out. Alexei comes back into view again, a hand pressed against his forehead. For a moment there he thought...]

...This is ridiculous. [After deciding that he probably shouldn't broadcast this through voice, he starts to write]

To the residents of Luceti. My name is Alexei and I know it's been some time since this was discussed, but while we have some downtime, I think this is an opportune time to re-establish the topic about teaching non-combantants how to fight. I know it's been some time since the first draft, however I don't think it will be the last.

The intent for this project was to ensure those with no knowledge of combat who are forced into the draft are able to at least defend themselves. This may also be beneficial in other areas besides the war, enemies within Luceti itself for example. Gaining this knowledge may not defeat the pursuer, yet it may offer time long enough for the right people to come and aid them.

The question now is, to the inexperienced, would any of you be interested in attending these sort of classes to learn the basics of combat and self defense?

To the people who had expressed interest to teach before, are you still interested? If anyone would like to teach in any form of combat, please bring it up with me and tell me your area of expertise. I have an ideal place in mind where classes can be held, but I rather further discuss it off journal. We can decide a time for all of us to meet and properly discuss this if there are people who want this to happen.

[Her printing's getting more scratchy as she tries to write more quickly and forcefully.]

No, that is not what I am saying! How dare

It is not as easy as you are making it sound. People in wars train for years. You cann If it was that easy to counter in a few months then what would the point of that training be?

She'll be gone for a while as she goes to find another writing implement. If he doesn't respond in that time, she'll continue when she gets back.]

[After maybe a minute or two, she replies. Her printing is lighter, partially because she's realized she was overreacting and partially because she doesn't want to break another writing implement.]

From the soldier's side. [Technically, this should be a question, since she doesn't know. But this is her guess.]

Then it is eas [After she crosses that out, there's a short pause as she tries to get her temper under control. It's a bit easier in writing to do so, and she was supposed to be trying to think before she spoke when having conversations like this.

The only sign she's still there for a while is the appearance of some dots as she taps the page. The next part is written even more slowly than before as she tries to keep from flying off the handle over mostly unrelated issues like she has been.]

I do not see a point to teaching people how to fight if they do not know some before. [A pause.] When a normal person is attacked [a shorter pause] the best that anyone can do is to run and to hide. Standing and fighting will only get them killed. [Pausing again, tapping on the page so that more dots appear somewhat at random.] If you are going to teach them, teach them how to do that get away.

[More quickly than the rest, and thus notably more messily:] No reason. It is common sense.

[And then, back to her more normal pace.] I do not think that having a weapon will help in fleeing. It would make the person a target, since they will seem dangerous.

If you say so. I still do not think that what fighting can be learned will give more than a few seconds of time.
